Contribute to The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian

Give the gift of beauty and goodness to the culture of Los Angeles by supporting the The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian.  Dance, art, music, and architecture meet in this inspiring tale of love and passion for humankind and the divine.

I am inviting you to help sponsor this wonderful and unusual new work The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. Your generous donation to the project is tax-deductible, of course.

Audiences will experience an evening rich with powerfully symbolic art, dramatic dance and luscious, inspiring music. I’m directing and choreographing The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian, Tales of Love and Passion with a corps of California’s most gifted professional dance artists, with rare instrumental and choral music of Debussy performed by a cadre of Los Angeles’s finest musicians and singers. In the manner of a medieval mystery play, audience members will journey with performers throughout the Cathedral, breathing in the sacred spaces as the dancers, musicians and the captivating art of Vessels and Channels, become as living stained glass windows into the life of Saint Sebastian. The performance is a gift to the city of Los Angeles, free to the public.

  • The Wooden Floor in Santa Ana is offering unlimited rehearsal time and space for my dancers at no cost
  • Holy Family Church in South Pasadena is donating rehearsal space for singers
  • Mr. Toparovksy is collaborating on production design and props, and providing images for marketing.
  • The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels is the venue.

This artistic undertaking would not be possible without these generous  in-kind donations that total more than $20,000.

I am asking your help to underwrite key elements of this joyful and beautiful project. Your tax-deductible gift would support costumes, necessary technical elements such as sound, lighting and staging equipment, and small stipends for the guest artists. Needed underwriting totals $25,000; I’m hoping to reach this goal before January 20, 2015.  Gifts earmarked for 2015 will be held until then.

Please help us reach this goal by making a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $100, $500, $1000, $2500, or more, in care of the Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles. You may make your gift online at scroll to the bottom of the webpage to securely enter your information. Gifts of any amounts are welcome, and greatly appreciated!

Sponsors of this wonderful-to-be evening, at the $1,000 level and above, will experience VIP placement and seating, be invited to a special sneak preview, and have the opportunity to meet all the artists involved. All sponsors will receive name recognition in the program.
